We moved to Port Dover when I was in grade 3. At the time I refused to speak to my parents for about 2 weeks… I’m so glad now that they didn’t listen to an 8 year old who didn’t want to leave her friends!
Real estate for me is about relationships. It’s about that look on your face when we find the house for you or when we negotiate a successful offer. People do sometimes forget that buying and selling is not always a happy time but it’s something I’m well aware of. I’ve worked with clients who are going their separate ways, dealing with the loss of a loved one or helping them settle into a nursing home, suffering through the loss/change of a job. You name it, I’ve probably been through it.
When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me spending time with my 4 daughters, volunteering at their school or in our community, the ball diamond, dance and theatre class (for them not me). And rarely, very rarely, with my feet up at home and a good mystery novel alongside a diet Pepsi and a bowl of Bridge Mixture.

My family goes back generations in Port Dover, 1907 to be exact, as commercial fishermen catching perch and pickerel and filling the bellies of many. When I’m not house hunting with clients or working in the office, you’ll find me riding the lake aboard the “J & R Mummery”with my brothers.
What I enjoy about selling real estate is the people you meet and the friends you make . Helping them find their home where I have lived and loved my whole life is pretty special. If you have a chance to experience my hometown you’ll see why this is a place you can truly call home!
With my wife Melissa and our 4 daughters, being on a ball diamond 3 times a week or just fishing off the rocks, life is busy to say the least but we couldn’t imagine it any other way.

I have been in the real estate industry since 1987 and have a vast knowledge of the real estate market. Over the years I have helped my clients with their buying and selling needs including residential, multi-units, commercial, industrial and farm properties.
I had my own real estate firm, Cooper Tyme, for 7 years and then decided to move in a different direction, concentrating on the appraisal business. In addition to my Broker’s license, I also have an AACI designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada that allows me to appraise properties including residential, multi-units, commercial, industrial, farms and machinery/equipment.
My appraisal firm, BCAppraisals Inc. has been in business since 2004 and prior to opening up my appraisal firm, I worked for R. E. Mann Brokers/Coldwell Banker. To keep in line with my credentials, I have to complete my re-certification that is required by RECO and the Appraisal Institute of Canada on a 2 year cycle. I have also been involved with the Ontario Chapter for the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraiser as a past President, which gives me an expanded knowledge of agricultural properties. I have been involved with the Simcoe and District Real Estate Board as a sales director and director.
I have lived my entire life in Norfolk County other than the 2 years when I was obtaining my Marketing Diploma at Fanshawe College in London. Being a farm girl has given me the perseverance and integrity to work hard with all my clients.
On my down time I enjoy spending time with my 6 grandchildren, song and poetry writing and traveling with my husband.

Norfolk County led me to make a big decision!!! Growing up, I spent my summers at our family’s boat in Port Dover. This allowed me to really appreciate small town living. If I wasn’t swimming at one of the regional beaches, or shopping in one of the many local shops, I was off building lifelong friendships and memories. One of my favourite things to do was going boating. Whether it was travelling down the channels of Port Dover, going to Bluffs Bar, Turkey Point, Pottahawk or even the States, I loved the water and I loved my summers here!
I lived most of my life in Brantford where my love for water did not waver, I spent a significant part of my adolescence synchronize swimming, lifeguarding, and teaching swimming lessons. After College I ended up in Guelph where I met my amazing husband, and we started our family. As priorities shifted, we shortly realized that the hustle and bustle of big city living wasn’t for us and we wanted our son to be closer to family, so when the opportunity presented itself, we jumped on it and made a BIG DECISION, we bought a house in Norfolk, thanks to Melissa Mummery!
Fast forward 5 years, our son is now 7, with younger twin brothers and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. We can’t wait for our boys to grow and experience for themselves just how wonderful Norfolk County is and all the amazing things small town living has to offer.
Since the overall experience when we purchased our home with Melissa was so positive, it ultimately led me to the real estate world. I love meeting new people and it’s essential to me to make everyone’s experiences welcoming, important, and positive. I’ve had the pleasure of serving Haldimand-Norfolk buyers and sellers for over 36 years, having been in real estate since 1987. Born and raised in Port Dover, I lived there until after completing my Human Resources diploma and made the move to my Fiancé’s family farm in Vanessa. I may have traded in my flip-flops for rubber boots, but I will always be proud to call Port Dover my home.
My passion for real estate started at an early age. I remember stopping at every Brokerage’s window to see the current listings, then looking them up on REALTOR.ca when I got home. Sometimes I would even try to sell my mom and dad on our next home when we were nowhere close to needing to move! I like to say that I was “raised in renovations” because for as long as I can remember, my dad was tearing something down, installing something new or brainstorming what the next project would be. This taught me to look at an old home, see the potential it had, and admire its one of a kind characteristics.
