Happy 5 Year Anniversary to Mummery & Co!

Can you believe it’s been 5 years since we first opened our doors at Mummery & Co? We certainly can’t!

When Keith and I first talked about going out on our own it was pretty scary. We had the “name brand” behind us for so long that we wondered if that was a big part of why we had developed such a strong business base. There was a “boss” to ask questions (and report to), someone else handled all but the on the ground REALTOR® work, and we had a Brokerage reputation to stand behind. Would our clients, past, present and future, be ok with following us on this adventure to self ownership? Could we figure out all of the behind the scenes stuff when it came to legislation, accounting, branding, etc., and all that came with that while still maintaining the momentum to help our clients buy and sell real estate while doing it? What if we failed…? What if, what if, what if.

What if we didn’t try?

The philosophy behind the opening of our own company was to be community focused, client first in our thinking, and local experts in Norfolk County real estate. We wanted to be able to practice our profession with our hearts and lead our clients through their property journeys with their best interests in mind. Sponsoring their kids’ sports teams, supporting local businesses and volunteering in the community we love allows us to put our time and money where our hearts are in a way that we could never have done without that big step. All of the real estate agents that have joined our Mummery & Co are like-minded and are willing to lend a hand to us and each other whenever it’s needed. They volunteer throughout Norfolk and beyond and support a variety of causes near and dear to their hearts. They are authentic and genuine and always want to do the best job possible for their clients which is what makes us such a great team.

Every day we are grateful to everyone that has helped us along the way starting with our little family. They’ve babysat, driven kids here and there, and the kids themselves have put up with crazy work hours, been a secretary when I’m driving them somewhere, and shared us on working “vacations”. But they know the value of working hard for something and are proud of us in a way that brings me to tears when I think about it. Colleagues that have their own Brokerages and were (and still are!) willing to lend an ear or pass along guidance and advice were irreplaceable, especially in the early days and years. Referral partners that stayed with us because they value relationships the way we do and didn’t care what company we operate under. Our extremely organized work mom, Abby, who is our “Assistant” but is so much more than that to us. She allows us to grow because of her ideas and support in ways we could never have dreamed, not with a sales focus but a human one. And last but not least, our clients who have become friends. Our lives are much better because of the opportunity you have given us to work with you. We take the responsibility of representing you seriously and promise to continue keeping you foremost in decisions we make, training we take, and all of the transactions we hope to guide you through for many years to come.
