March Break 2019 in Norfolk County

Spring Break Clip Art 26492.jpg

March Break can be a magical time of long awaited sunny vacations, ski trips and family time… but it can also be a stressful time for working parents that either don’t have the time off, or the money for a big trip. We’re hoping to help lighten the load a little by putting together a bunch of local options (to either enjoy as a family or for childcare) here in one spot!

Art With Heart Studio

FULL WEEK REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

Go on a magically creative journey with us this March Break as we explore Art Throughout the Ages!

Registration for our 2019 March Break Camp at Art with Heart Studio in Port Dover (518 Main Street location) is officially OPEN! Our camp theme focuses on Art History once again and will include crafts and projects inspired by works of famous artists who came before us. And of course, it’s Art with Heart so there will be plenty of artsy mess making and silly fun sprinkled throughout each and every day!

We welcome ages 5 and up to register for this 9am – 3pm day camp and spaces are limited. The program is $200 plus tax early bird pricing for a week-long registration (if you register before February 11th), or $45 plus tax per day (drop-in registration will open on February 12th) To register, please click HERE! Pre-payment is required to reserve your spot in the program.

Lighthouse Theatre

Port Dover’s Lighthouse Theatre offers 2 interactive kids shows… for tickets you can click HERE to go straight to their website!

The Queen has always been “the fairest in the land.” Her magic mirror tells her so! But when the Queen hears that Snow White has surpassed her, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of her… forever! Snow White escapes into the Deep Dark Woods, where she meets Seven Dwarves with big hearts and short tempers who will help her find her “happily ever after.” DuffleBag Theatre’s engaging, imaginative take on the classic fairy tale will have the whole family howling with laughter — and maybe even joining in the zany fun on stage!

DuffleBag is a March Break tradition at Lighthouse that fills the theatre year after year. So don’t be Bashful, get your tickets today! Tickets are $10 each or four for $32 (discount applied at checkout).

Wendy Darling is sad to learn that she’s getting too old to stay in the nursery any longer. But when Peter Pan offers to fly her to Neverland, where she can stay young forever, Wendy is catapulted into an adventure filled with magic pixies, charming pirates, and talking trees! As Peter Pan battles his arch-nemesis Captain Hook in DuffleBag Theatre’s wacky adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s beloved story, even grown-ups will feel like kids again! Be ready to laugh out loud, cheer for our heroes and boo the villains — and maybe even put on a costume and join in the zany fun on stage!

DuffleBag is a March Break tradition at Lighthouse that fills the theatre year after year. Get your tickets to Peter Pan before they fly away! Tickets are $10 each or four for $32 (discount applied at checkout).

Nature’s Calling Environmental Education

kids-ready-for-snowball-fight.jpg

Our mission is to connect youth and families with nature and the outdoors, to raise awareness and appreciation for our natural world, and to foster a strong environmental ethic through community-based education and engagement.

Nature's Calling Environmental Education is dedicated to addressing and correcting 'nature deficit disorder' - a term developed by Richard Louv, and addressed in his seminal book, Last Child in the Woods, used to describe the lack of nature in the lives of today's wired generation. We strongly believe that environmental education and direct connections with nature will cultivate an understanding and awareness in youth that is vital for healthy children and, ultimately, a healthy world.

Located in the heart of Carolinian Canada, we live in a region that boasts the highest diversity of plants and animals in the country, a vast array of habitats and natural areas, nature trails and outdoor activities, and a community with a strong environmental ethic.

Camp suits ages 4-10, fees are $35.00 / day / participant (or $30/child for 2+ children in a family unit); $20/ half day camp. Camp runs from 9-4.

Lucas won’t be with us in Norfolk but we forgive him because he’s going to be doing wonderful things in Brantford at the Sanderson Centre with March Break Magic 2019!

Direct from the pages of Guinness World Records and your TV, join The Illusionist Lucas Wilson and Kelly Defilla as they bring a NEW family fun magic show to The Sanderson Centre in Brantford this March Break! You can buy tickets through Lucas’ website HERE

Canada’s ONLY FOUR TIME Guinness World Record holding illusionist will be at The Sanderson Centre on Monday, March 11 at 2PM & 7PM. Lucas will bring along his favourite illusions for this Special March Break Magic!

The show is in support of Help A Child Smile, an organization focused on children with cancer treated at the Children's Hospital at Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation by providing opportunities for them and their families to smile and have fun. Tickets are just $15 and you can sponsor a seat for a child with cancer by emailing Events@helpachildsmile.com.

You’ve seen them on the TODAY Show, Dragons’ Den, Canada’s Got Talent and in the Guinness Book of World Records, now see them LIVE! Come join the March Break Magic suitable for the whole family.

Simcoe Strand Theatre

strand.jpg

Hopefully the new animated movie release just prior to March Break continues… The Strand runs extra matinees that week so if you’re not looking to venture to far out of town you can spend less for the same movie! Remember to bring cash, they don’t have debit (they do have a bank machine on site though)! Click HERE to find their schedules for movies and times.

White Horse Bowling

bowling.jpg

I take the girls here for some low stress fun, it’s ok to be loud ;) We get the gutter guards set up to keep mom from crying when she loses to our 6 year old and away we go! There are drinks and snacks and an arcade so be prepared for that extra spending. It’s not cheap but it is fun and one game of bowling is enough for us. The older ones like to play pool after and air hockey for the little ones. You can visit their Facebook page HERE for details.

We hope this post has helped you plan to keep your sanity during March Break! With 4 kids of our own, we may see you out and about in Norfolk, be sure to say hi :)
