Travel Thursday - Simcoe Heritage Friendship Festival Pop Up 2021
This week you won’t have to travel far to enjoy some music, food, contests and prizes. It has been a long (and at times somewhat lonely) road to getting back to taking vacations, meeting new faces and gathering with people we love but we daresay we made it! And we can’t think of a better way to celebrate basking in the joys of summer than to travel to The Simcoe Friendship Festival’s Pop-Up Event 2021 to celebrate all of those things while enjoying some music and food in the park.
This weekend, Saturday July 31st to Monday August 2nd, from 11am to 8pm each day, this event is going to be well worth making a day trip to Wellington Park! The Simcoe Lions Club (who will be selling their amazing burgers, fries and Dixie dogs) and the Lynn Valley Lions (who will be selling yummy milk shakes) will be in attendance to help raise money for their community projects during the year!
AND…our personal favourite…FREE MUSIC!!! We have some of the area’s best musicians and there is a solid line-up that will be performing ALL weekend long! You can see the schedule below and plan your trip so you don’t miss your favourites:
Sat, July 31
11:00 Dan Fewings (who will also M.C. the weekend!)
12:00 The Freeways
1:15 J.D. Semple
2:30 Dead Disco

5:00 The Brousseau Bunch

While this is not like a normal Friendship Festival that we have been used to in past years ~ for example there will be NO vendors this time around ~ it is an fabulous opportunity for our community to come together to enjoy some music, delicious food, support these service clubs, and get really pumped about a full return in 2022!
We wanted to share a little video about summer in the ‘Folk and we couldn’t find anything super recent but this cutie I’ve never seen!! It was created as part of the Canada 150 celebrations and I loved it right from the start. Hopefully it will give you a little peek into what we have going on here in our little corner of Heaven.
Please come back next summer when everything is bigger and better <3
So make some day trip travel plans to head to Wellington Park in Simcoe, ON. Pack your lawn chair and beach blankets and perhaps a bit of money to tip the talented musicians. We have also heard that if you take some photos and post to their social media pages you will have a chance to win some awesome prizes. And don’t forget to tell them we sent you ;)
