Selling from the Heart
It’s been happening lately that I’ve been working with childhood/high school friends to help their parents sell their homes, and in some cases, working with them on the estate sale. Working in the small town that I grew up in is one of the great privileges of my career and it’s an honour to be the one to walk them through some tough real estate times.
I’ve never really considered myself a “salesperson” while doing this real estate thing. Being sales-y is actually the exact opposite of how I do business. I lead with my heart and value the relationships and friendships that have come to me through these first 13 years of guiding people home.
Recently I was hired to list a friend’s dad’s house after he had passed. This is a house that I drove to hang out at when I had my beginner driver’s permit and hit a squirrel for the first time. I had to pull over and let my dad drive me the rest of the way… My friendly date to our Junior Prom in grade 10 where we had a few photos taken in the yard. Where his dad joked with me a few years back at a function that he really did need to downsize and have me sell it for him - we laughed because we both knew there was no way he was leaving that house. His home for over 40 years. Many memories for his kids as they packed his belongings and made way for staging.
From the bottom of my heart I am grateful for the trust placed in me during what can be some incredible stressful and upsetting times.
