Travel Thursdays - Hotel de Glace (The Ice Hotel) in Quebec

You still have a little time left to squeeze in a trip to the Ice Hotel if you’re comfortable travelling now. Otherwise you’ll need to wait until next January since their “season” runs from approximately January 1 - March 13th depending on the weather. We were inspired by the chilly temperatures we’ve been having here at home to look for outside activities and came across the only ice hotel in North America, the Hotel de Glace. Are you a cold weather person? I am not actually ;). BUT the cool thing about this bucket list type of vacation is that you get your ice room, AND a traditional room in the Valcartier Resort just steps away, in case you just can’t make it all the way through the night.

When you start planning your stay at the Valcartier one of the great things about their website is all of the planning you can do online before you get there. Click here to download a resort map, check out the attraction schedule and buy tickets online. They are being very careful these days to be sure they are exceeding expectations when it comes to health and safety so make sure to read about their current restrictions.

Since it’s still winter for a while yet, you can look their Winter Playground activities and decide what you want to try before you get there. While I’m pretty sure I want to stay on the “baby” hills, there are some thriller tube rides like the “Everest” and the “Tornado”. You can have that - mercy non for me ;)

After a fun day outside, you can warm up with some lunch or dinner in the Village Vacances but be aware of the Covid-19 status which can be found here on their website.

The best thing you can do before trying something new is to hear it directly from someone who has been there. We found this very thorough review from a Travel Blogger, Lauren, and you should totally read it!

You’ll find The Hotel de Glace/Valcartier Resort about 20 minutes north of Quebec City. From where we are in Port Dover that will take you about 9 and a half hours (without bathroom breaks and snacks) or as we like to tell Audrey - about 6 kids movies long.

When it’s safe to do so, we hope you’ll visit the Ice Hotel, and please let the wonderful people at Valcartier Resort know we sent you :)
